Economics and Planning of Technical Urban Infrastructure Systems

Target

To participate in this course, students must have successfully finished the first year of REAP M.Sc. programme. The target of the module is to understand the principles of infrastructure planning and of industrial organisation and technical urban services regulation. The lecture imparts the principles planning and infrastructure planning in Germany and introduces European / international framework. Furthermore, economics and regulation of technical urban infrastructure systems, such as cost structures and market forms, cost allocation of building and operating urban technical services and regulation of urban technical services are issues of this course. The course presents theoretical concepts and illustrates these with real world examples and data. In particular, aims and success of regulatory reform in the technical urban service sectors will be discussed.

Task

The students have to deliver a semester work. Regular participation in the lecture is expected as well as one of the following tasks: Successful completion of a student report, oral presentation or take-home written exam.
