Health Insurance

You must only submit an insurance certificate if, since your enrolment at the HafenCity University Hamburg, you have changed or are in the process of changing your insurance contract. The health insurance companies can also issue a certificate, which is valid for the duration of your specific course, if the obligation as a student to take out insurance should in the future no longer be applicable due to exceeding the number of course semesters or the age limit or if you are exempt from insurance or have requested to be exempted from the obligation to take out insurance.

In an expansion of the uniform federal regulations, the German state of Hamburg also requires that students, who have requested to be exempted from the obligation to take out insurance and those who are exempt from this obligation (e.g. students with more than 14 course semesters or older than 30 years of age), have adequate health insurance coverage.
