Forschungsdatenmanagement? Leicht gemacht!
Wann: 26.06.2024 von 10 bis 12 Uhr

13. March: Workshop CRIS

As of December 1st, 2023 the Current Research Information System (CRIS) is online.

CRIS ("HCU FIS") – What is it, why is it being introduced and what do I have to do as researcher?

Find out more in our information event followed by a workshop:

> Wednesday 27 March, 11 - 12:30 a.m.

The zoom dates are available via HCU intern. You will find further information, instructions and a FAQ list here as well.

12. March: How to find the right open access journal for your own research

Have you prepared a manuscript and would like to publish open access in a journal - but don't know exactly which one and whether it will cost you anything?
We offer you two tools to help you find the right open access journal for your publication.

B!SON - The B!SON recommendation service suggests suitable Open Access journals based on title, abstract or references. It uses the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and supplements the results with information on funding opportunities at the HCU.

oa.finder - The oa.finder takes a slightly different approach: After selecting the publication type, your role in the submission process and the HCU as the associated organisation, it shows you an overview of Gold Open Access journals, including impact, whether they charge APCs and how high they are, and whether the HCU covers these publication costs, e.g. via a transformation agreement. You can filter the journals by subject area and keywords, or search by publisher and ISSN.

Give it a try!

02. February: Campaign "WEITER WISSEN. Mit uns."

Academic and research libraries provide researchers, teachers and students with literature and information, and support research, teaching and study with modern services and tools. At the same time, they support researchers with questions relating to publication formats and services, as well as questions about authorship and usage rights.

The nationwide "Weiter Wissen" campaign wants to make the social relevance of scientific libraries, their tasks and functions visible to politicians, the scientific community and funders.

> Press release (PDF file in english) of the German Library Association

Further information on the campaign can be found at weiterwissen-kampagne.de

31. January: new event program

Our new event program starts in February. We are offering Coffee Lectures and Workshops on various topics in digital form. Learn more about effective literature research and correct citation, the new Research Information System and aspects of Open Access and publication options. Be inspired by our program. We look forward to your participation.

22. January: Replacement of work desks in the library

The work desks at the window front to Überseeallee will be renewed. These workstations will therefore not be available from 05.02.2024 to 09.02.2024. Access to the book collections will be largely maintained. Only the following collections will be unavailable:

> Ground floor: journal volumes from the last 10 years
> First floor: books whose shelfmarks do NOT begin with Z.

All other shelfmarks as well as the holdings on the second floor are not concerned. Borrowing will continue as usual. Unfortunately, it may be a little noisier during the installation of the desks.

We ask for your understanding and look forward to your feedback on how you like the new desks!

15th January: New Open Access publishing options

When publishing in Open Access, publication fees, "Article Processing Charges" (APC), are usually incurred. Publish and read agreements enable a "corresponding author" of the participating university to publish Open Access in a journal, which is otherwise only accessible if a license is purchased ("hybrid Open Access"). The APC is covered by the agreement. Depending on the publisher, publication in an original Open Access journal ("Gold Open Access") is also possible at no additional cost or at a reduced cost. The read component of the agreement also includes access to all journal content that is not yet available in Open Access.

The institutional membership with a publisher offers researchers the opportunity to publish in Open Access at reduced costs or without paying an APC.

As of 1st January, 2024, HCU has concluded two new publish and read agreements with Elsevier and Taylor & Francis, and a new institutional membership with Cogitatio Press. An overview of all publishing cooperations, and detailed information on the framework conditions for publishing in the journals of those publishing houses and on access can be found via Open Access in Research.

July 12th: paperboy - our new digital journal service (BETA)

Keeping up to date with journals - this is now possible with our new web service paperboy. With the help of cover images, we graphically present a selection of the most important journals available at HCU as a supplementary search entry to the library catalog.
You have easy and intuitive access to the current contents of a journal - even sorted by topics: You can filter the available journal titles by architecture, civil engineering, geodesy and geoinformatics, engineering and technology, natural sciences, sociology, city and space, and environment and energy.

Follow the journals of your interest via your personal favorites list! As soon as a new issue is published, you will be informed via e-mail. You can also set an automatic email notification for keyword searches: You will then be informed as soon as something new on your topic is published.

Test paperboy!

paperboy is still under construction. Therefore we are looking forward to your feedback. Do you miss a journal? Do you have any comments or questions about its use?
