Technologies for Sustainable Material Cycles


Previous knowledge for the participation of this course is the successful participation in the module
“Urban Material Cycles”:
The knowledge of the standard technologies for material cycles and recycling and the competence of decision making in the field of selection of material related technologies will be improved in this lecture. Planning strategies for long life cycles of buildings, building elements and building materials, Technologies for material conservation and appropriate construction and for building element and material recycling will be discussed in this lecture as well as the planning procedures for recycling adapted construction and selection of materials. The course includes lectures, seminar discussions and individual student inputs for specific subjects.


The students have to deliver a semester work and a comprising report. Regular participation in the lecture and individual oral input are expected as well as an oral presentation of the successfully completed student report.
