Wolfgang Willkom studied architecture and philosophy at the University of Hannover and specialized in social housing in developing countries ( subject of his

Diploma and doctoral thesis) as well as the recycling of building materials ( subject of his habilitation).

From 1976 until 1981 he was a freelance architect and scientific assistant at the University of Hannover. From 1980 until 1996 he was project manager at the Institute IB for Industrialisation of the building industry GmbH in Hannover.

After being occupied in project planning, construction supervision, construction consultancy and as a guest professor in Brazil, India, Mexico, Paraguay and Tanzania, Wolfgang Willkomm was appointed to the HAW Hamburg in 1996 and the HCU Hamburg in 2006. Furthermore he is partner at hwp Hullmann, Willkomm + Partners in Hamburg.
