What is research data management?
Research data refer to all data that are initially collected and subsequently analyzed in the course of a research project. The formats of research data are as diverse as the scientific work itself, encompassing a wide range of research questions, methods, and disciplinary cultures. What research data have in common, however, is that they are almost always in digital form and, depending on the phase of the research cycle, raise questions about their documentation, storage, archiving, and accessibility. A professional research data management aims to address all of these questions in a transparent and comprehensive manner. In this way, the management of research data accompanies a research project from start to finish. Research data management goes far beyond purely technical decisions: it must meet the requirements of Good Research Practice and the goals of Open Science, as well as comply with legal frameworks and ethical considerations.

> How do I create a data management plan?
> How can I publish my research data at the final stage of a project?
With repOS, the HCU operates an institutional repository for the publication of research data.
Further information on research data management is available for HCU members in the library section in HCU intern.
