Structure and Teaching Content

The master’s programme offers an increasing freedom of choice and therefore requires an greater degree of personal responsibility. This requires competent and individual advice and support to develop individual abilities and aptitudes in order to meet the objectives of an artistically and scientifically outstanding architectural education.

Strcuture

As a basis for each semester there is an interdisciplinary and at times internationally oriented drafting project with 10 CP. In the final semester, this is the Master’s thesis with 20 CP.

1st semester: Four compulsory modules with 5 CP each (incentives) are offered by the teaching departments of Designing and Drafting, Construction and Technology, Humanities and Social sciences, Construction economics and Building law.

2nd semester: Students choose two elective-compulsory modules, each with 5 CP from a total of four elective modules offered. These will continue to be offered by the teaching departments of Designing and Drafting, Construction and Technology, Humanities and Social sciences, Construction economics and Building law. The subjects chosen must be aligned in terms of content to the project of the 2nd semester.

Furthermore, another elective-compulsory module (5 CP) from the Architecture Programme as well axone [Q]-Studies (Master) module need to be attended.

3rd semester: Students choose one elective-compulsory module with 5 CP from a total of four elective-compulsory modules offered. These will continue to be offered by the teaching departments of Designing and Drafting, Construction and Technology, Humanities and Social sciences, Construction economics and Building law. The chosen module must be aligned in terms of content of the project of the 3rd semester.
Furthermore, another elective-compulsory module (5 CP) from the Architecture Programme, one elective module (5 CP), and one [Q]-Studies module (5 CP) need to be attended.

4th semester: This final semester is used to work on one’s Master’s thesis and concludes with its presentation.

 

A 12-week office internship is required before commencement of study. There is no timeframe for an internship within the master’s programme.

The master’s programme does not determine a stay abroad. 

The master’s programme meets the requirements of the ECTS in terms of learning objectives and workload for students. It is designed to be studied in the standard period of study.

The temporal requirements for students are evident from the module cards. They correspond to a normal work week of 40 hours.
