Doctoral Studies and Postdoc Information

HafenCity Universität Hamburg supports young researchers in the various phases of their academic qualification. Central for the promotion of young researchers at HCU is the organisation and offers on the path to a doctorate. However, HCU also strives to involve interested students in research topics at HCU even before they have completed their doctorate, within the framework of 'research-based learning'. For the phase after the doctorate, HCU offers postdocs various opportunities to qualify for a further academic career up to and including a professorship.

PhD Coffee by PhD representatives

Every Friday, all PhD Candidates of the HCU are invited for informal short coffee sessions. The goal is to encourage communication of the community in a safe space and meet your peers. Any questions, concerns, issues in your doctoral journey? Or do you just need a short break from intense work? All topics are allowed! We look forward to getting to know you.

Fridays, 10:00-10:30 (possible to extend according to conversation flow)

The Write-In sessions

Every Friday, right after the PhD Coffee-Break, all PhD Candidates who need a scheduled moment to focus on their texts are invited for a Write-In Session.

The reason is that it is easier to find the motivation and commit when working in a group.

The principle is simple - we meet online and start to write on our respective papers.

Fridays, 11:00-12:30 (can be extended, or additional days could be discussed)

Online: ZOOM MEETING (same as PhD Coffee)
