THE ARCHIVE AS A METHOD AND PRACTICE

THE ARCHIVE AS A METHOD AND PRACTICE
December 04–05, 2018
With Armin Linke, Maria Hlavajova and Nishat Awan

As part of a workshops series organized by the architecture research initiative at the HafenCity University Hamburg, the workshop will explore the archive as a methodical spatial organization, based on research questions that have evolved from two ongoing dissertations at the HCU Hamburg and at the TU Berlin: Belgrade New Wave – Art and Architecture of the 1980s and In the Search for (Future) Spatial Commons – History, Theory and Actuality of Systems of Commoning.

On December 4, the opening event will take place at the HCU, with a lecture by Armin Linke (Artist, Berlin). On December 5, we will meet in the expandable archive, which was created in summer inside the Schaltzentrale. Subsequent to public lectures by Maria Hlavajova (BAK, Utrecht, NL) and Nishat Awan (Goldsmiths, University of London, UK) three workshop sessions will examine the archive as a method and practice, in its function as a collection of knowledge, collective process and space of communication.

The event will be held in english.

A registration for the workshops is required, please send an email until the 28th of November to: sara.lusic(at)hcu-hamburg.de
The lectures are open for the public.
