The main goal of the project is to develop a strategic adaptation approach for climate change in the Hamburg metropolitan area. Our research focuses on the development of a project data platform. The aim of the data platform is to provide information about the available data and to enable data exchange among the project partners. We work closely together with the research group of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Erik Pasche, TU Harburg-Hamburg.

NextHamburg is a think-tank, an online platform which enables citizens to express their opinions about urban planning issues in the city of Hamburg. Our research concentrates on the visual representation of the city planning issues, the use of maps in participatory processes and analyses of current and potential users.

In this project we focus on indoor navigation supported by a mobile device. We plan to execute experiments in which we will investigate the usability of a map, the information needed in the process of navigation and the most suitable graphical representation. In this project we closely collaborate with the research group of HCU Prof. Dr.-Ing. Harald Sternberg.

In the SWITCH project we are responsible for the execution of a public participation process in Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg. We develop and test an innovative online public participatory platform which enables citizens to express their opinions and wishes about their spare time activities in this part of the city. We closely collaborate with the HCU research group of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Dickhaut.

LANDMARKS is a part of the pan-European action COST A27. The objective of the project was to identify and evaluate pre-industrial elements in the European landscape threatened by the abandonment of traditional agricultural and mining activities. One of the main results of the project was the book titled “Geoinformation Technology for Geo-Cultural Landscape: European Perspectives“, published by Taylor & Francis and edited by O. Bender, N. Evelpidou, A. Krek and A. Vassilopoulos.
