Online application

For a successful application at the HafenCity Universität Hamburg you have to apply via the ahoi application portal of the HafenCity Univeristy within the application period.

If you aquired your first academic degree abroad please read the information  under the menue item "international applicants" carefully.

 

1. Create an application account

Under the menu item "Create Account" you can create your application account. This can be done only at the application period. After you have entered your data, please choose "create". Thereafter you will get your access data for the online application by email. If necessary please also check your spam filter settings.

Attention!

If you are enrolled at HCU, you already have an ahoi-account. Please apply via your existing account. For the login in the ahoi-portal you will need your HCU user name (for example: htl123) and your password. If you have your HCU user name but not your password, you can reset your password at the Infothek. It is only possible, if you show them your identity card or passport.

 

 

2. Enter your data and submit the online application electronically

After you created an application account please enter your personal data and submit the online application electronically.

 

3. Submitting documents

If you apply online for a master's programme, you simply send the information to HafenCity University Hamburg electronically. Once you have filled out and electronically submitted your application, you will need to send all required documents and a print copy of your online application by the application deadline to the student administration.

Please submit only simple copies. In the case of an admission we need certified copies.

Below you will find what documents you have to submit for your desired master degree programme.

 

  • signed copy of your online application
  • a simple copy of your first academic degree with an average-grade and an ECTS-grading (relative mark) (If you are still completing your first degree and you are unable to submit a certificate or diploma, please submit a simple copy of your transcript of records with a current avarage grade and an ECTS-grading or an ECTS-grading table (130 Credit Points and at least 75 Credit points have to be graded). Attention! HCU-intern applicants have to print the transcript of records directly from the ahoi-account; the ECTS-grading table is available in the administration office (you need to do nothing further)
  • if your university can't provide an ECTS-grading or ECTS-grading table please submit an equivalent certificate of the issued university (If you acquired your first academic degree in a Non-EU country you can replace the certificate with a statutory declaration)
  • if available, a proof of subject-specific relevant professional experience for at least half a year full-time employment (35 hours per week) after you acquired your first academic degree
  • if available, a portfolio (maximal in an A3 format and maximal 15 pages)
  • signed copy of your online application
  • a simple copy of your first academic degree with an average-grade and an ECTS-grading (relative mark) (If you are still completing your first degree and you are unable to submit a certificate or diploma, please submit a simple copy of your transcript of records with a current avarage grade and an ECTS-grading or an ECTS-grading table (130 Credit Points and at least 75 Credit points have to be graded).  Attention! HCU-intern applicants have to print the transcript of records directly from the ahoi-account; the ECTS-grading table is available in the administration office (you need to do nothing further)
  • if your university can't provide an ECTS-grading or ECTS-grading table please submit an equivalent certificate of the issued university (If you acquired your first academic degree in a Non-EU country you can replace the certificate with a statutory declaration)
  • if available, a proof of professional work as civil engineer for at least half a year full-time employment (35 hours per week)
  • signed copy of your online application
  • a simple copy of your first academic degree with an average-grade (If you are still completing your first degree and you are unable to submit a certificate or diploma, please submit a simple copy of your transcript of records with a current avarage grade (130 Credit Points and at least 75 Credit points have to be graded).  Attention! HCU-intern applicants have to print the transcript of records directly from the ahoi-account;
  • proof of English language skills (only if you choose the specialisation Hydrography) (if the proof is not yet available, please submit a registration for a language course or for a language test)
  • signed copy of your online application
  • a simple copy of your first academic degree with an average-grade (If you are still completing your first degree and you are unable to submit a certificate or diploma, please submit a simple copy of your transcript of records with a current avarage grade (130 Credit Points and at least 75 Credit points have to be graded).  Attention! HCU-intern applicants have to print the transcript of records directly from the ahoi-account.
  • proof of sufficient English language skills (if the proof is not yet available, please submit a registration for a language course or for a language test)
  • proof of academic qualification in REAP-related fields during the studies
  • proof of professional work experience in REAP related fields during your studies or after you acquired your first academic degree
  • letter of intent outlining your personal aims and objectives for your study in the REAP master programme (1–1,5 A4 pages)
  • signed copy of your online application
  • a simple copy of your first academic degree with an average-grade and an ECTS-grading (relative mark) (If you are still completing your first degree and you are unable to submit a certificate or diploma, please submit a simple copy of your transcript of records with a current avarage grade and an ECTS-grading or an ECTS-grading table (130 Credit Points and at least 75 Credit points have to be graded).  Attention! HCU-intern applicants have to print the transcript of records directly from the ahoi-account; the ECTS-grading table is available in the administration office (you need to do nothing further)
  • if your university can't provide an ECTS-grading or ECTS-grading table please submit an equivalent certificate of the issued university (If you acquired your first academic degree in a Non-EU country you can replace the certificate with a statutory declaration)
  • if available, a proof of relevant professional experience
  • signed copy of your online application
  • a simple copy of your first academic degree with an average-grade and an ECTS-grading (relative mark) (If you are still completing your first degree and you are unable to submit a certificate or diploma, please submit a simple copy of your transcript of records with a current avarage grade and an ECTS-grading or an ECTS-grading table (130 Credit Points and at least 75 Credit points have to be graded).  Attention!   • if available, a letter of motivation
  • if available, three to five work samples
  •  if available, a proof of professional skills for example relevant professional education or practical activities in the form of out of school or out of university engagement, relevant practical training, relevant work experience (tabularly curriculum vitae with the relevant proof)
  • if available, proof of soft skills
