Study and Examination Regulations

Study and examination regulations define the general and subject-specific provisions for the Bachelor’s and Master’s studies at the HafenCity Universität (HCU). They are determined by the university’s senate. Publications and new announcements can be found in the official gazette of Hamburg (‘Amtlicher Anzeiger) and since 2010 in the HCU gazette (‘Hochschulanzeiger’), respectively.

General Study and Examination Regulations (ASPO)

The General Study and Examination Regulations (ASPO) applies to all HCU students - regardless of the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme that they are enrolled in. It defines the general provisions of the studies. Students can only refer to the respective ASPO that was effective for their study programme at the time of their enrolment at the HCU. Amendments decided after enrolment are applied in the respective form determined.

Specific Study and Examination Regulations (BSPO)

The Specific Study and Examination Regulations (BSPO) define the subject-specific provisions of the respective Bachelor’s and Master’s studies such as the course of studies and the type and scope of study and examination achievements.

Generally, students can refer to the BSPO that was effective for the respective study programme at the time of their enrolment at the HCU. Amendments decided after enrolment are applied in the respective form determined. Changing to another BSPO is only allowed in special exceptions.
