Guest auditor program for refugees

As a participant of the guest auditor program you can attend courses and gain insight into our university life. The guest auditor program includes a Study Buddy Program. Every new guest auditor may request a personal Buddy. The Buddies are HCU students who volunteer to help international newcomers. As a guest auditor you can attend together with your Buddy up to three courses at HCU.

Most of our courses are held in German, but there also is a limited number of lectures taught in English.

Hence, you should have at least basic knowledge of German or English to be able to follow the courses.

Please notice that there are differences between the guest-auditor-program and a regular degree program:

  • Auditing a course does not include completing assignments or taking any exams. Auditing students do not gain a higher education degree.
  • Being an auditing student does not influence later applications for regular studies.
  • Auditing students are not eligible to buy/use the semester ticket for public transport (HVV).
  • Auditing students cannot apply for student grants (BAföG).

To whom the program is designed for?

The program is designed for people forced to flee their homelands and discontinue their studies.

What are the requirements for the guest auditor program?

The requirements are:

  • Participation in the Study Buddy Program.
  • You have to fulfil specific admission requirements in the field of specialist knowledge and language competence.
  • The instructor´s consent is required if a guest auditor wishes to attend a course.

Our refugee representative gives details of the specific requirements.

How do I register for the guest auditor program?

If you want to participate in the guest auditor program, please contact our refugee representative. Please complete the application form for the guest-auditor-program. HCU checks whether the requirements are satisfied.
