Doctoral sponsorship

Doctoral students at HCU have different options to apply for financial support regarding their research projects. There are several sponsors who support the HCU by offering doctoral scholarships and providing means to organise doctoral students conferences. In addition, there are eleven sponsorship organisations who offer scholarships for doctoral students. Databases of grant programmes and scholarships provide the option to search individually for sponsoring.

Doctoral Scholarships
The HCU is able to award doctoral scholarships on a regular basis, as it is funded by several foundations and the State Postgraduate Scholarship Programme of Hamburg (FHH). The doctoral scholarships of the FHH are usually awarded in spring every year. The cross-university funding initiative Pro Exzellenzia plus (www.pro-exzellenzia.de) currently helps to support different projects of female doctoral students who have graduated in the MINT subjects. Doctoral scholarships provided to HCU are usually announced and awarded by the Doctoral Examination Board.

The following doctoral scholarships are currently available:
FHH-scholarship for doctoral students, 1.250 Euro per month, for the duration of 12 months, from 1st March 2022 to 28th February 2023.

Doctoral Scholarship "Pro Exzellenzia plus" for female doctoral students, for the duration of
12 months, from 1st May 2022 to 30th April 2023.
The amount of the stipend is 1.250 Euro per month plus family allowance (one child 400,- Euro, two children 500,- Euro, three children 600,- Euro)
