Climate change and development scenarios for urban regions

The climate of selected urban regions of the Baltic Sea coast is compared to rural climate by interpretation of time series from climate stations and structural factors affecting the climatic behavior of these different locations. A model of current climate change associated with land-use and socio-economic developments in these regions will be designed and validated with measured climate data. To assess possible future climate changes and effects specific to urban regions, scenarios for changing socio-economic and structural conditions will be developed and combined with climate scenarios in a model to evaluate effects of urban planning affecting the future climate of coastal cities.
