Information for new students

Welcome to the library!

We are happy to have you and we wish you successful studies. Here you can find everything you need to know about the library.

The library entrance is located on the ground floor in the foyer.

Current opening hours:

Monday to Friday
10 am to 4 pm

All media can be found through our library website:

On the ground floor and on the first floor you can find current books classified by subject. We offer important textbooks several times or as ebooks. We also collect Bachelor- and Masterthesis print and online.

You can borrow almost all of our books contactless using our self-check terminal. Borrowing is free of charge.

Before borrowing the first time you need to activate your HCU-Card as a library card. Please fill out the form on our website. To activate your card you can send us a scan of your identity card/passport plus registration of residence (“Meldebescheinigung”). Please use the HCU e-mail account. Or you can come to the service desk.

You can borrow books for 4 weeks and renew them 6 times afterwards (if nobody reserves them).

You can access our licensed e-books, e-journals and databases via VPN and Shibboleth from home. You simply need your HCU ID.

Everything you need to know about the libray you can find out in our digital crash courses. We use the video conferencing app Zoom for our courses.

Please register via moodle, you simply need your HCU ID.

You can reserve a time slot for using the workstations in the library:
