Library card
The library card is free of charge for
> students and employees of the HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU)
> students of other state universities in Europe
> staff and guests of other state universities in Hamburg
> apprentices (incl. "Referendarinnen and Referendare" and civil servants "im Vorbereitungsdienst")
> pupils
> teachers of state schools in Hamburg
Apart from that the following fees apply:
Annual card: EUR 30,-
Semi-annual card: EUR 18,-
Monthly card: EUR 10,-
Annual card for legal entities: EUR 120,-
Participants of the Federal Voluntary Service or the Voluntary Social Year as well as claimants of unemployment benefit and recipients of state benefits according the books II and IX of social laws:
EUR 5,-
Card replacement (Library Card):
To any external user: EUR 15,-
Information about lost or stolen HCU-Cards
Exceeding the loan period
First request for return (1. week): Eur 1
Second request for return (2. week): Eur 2 (total Eur 3/item)
Third request for return (3. week): Eur 5 (total Eur 8/item)
Final request for return (5. week): Eur 10 (total Eur 18/item)
But not more than Eur 18,-/item.

Interlibrary Loan (regardless of success of delivery)
Interlibrary loan within Germany: EUR 1,50
Interlibrary loan outside Germany: EUR 3,20
Loss of books
Cost of replacement plus administrative expenses per book of EUR 30,-
Payment
You may pay fees by EC-Card (national debit card) and PIN-number at the reference desk of our library.
Fee schedule
Basis for the fees is the "Gebührensatzung für Verwaltungs- und Benutzungsgebühren der HafenCity Universität Hamburg - Universität für Baukunst und Metropolenentwicklung" (in German). Paragraph 6 refers to the Fee Regulations of the State and University Library of Hamburg Carl von Ossietzky. The fees are listed above.
