Information about using e-media

E-books, e-journals and databases licenced by our library are freely usable only in the HCU network and the HCU-WiFi due to licencing restrictions. The IP address area of the HCU is unlocked for this purpose. If you are seated at a desktop computer on HCU premises or with your own computer or mobile device in the network of HCU-WiFi, you have access to all offers.

How can I access e-books, e-journals or databases from home?

Students and employees of the HCU may also use the VPN client worldwide from any other location (e.g. from home) to access the licenced e-books, e-journals and databases of HCU as far as the license permits. To do so an Internet connection is needed.

> Connect to the Internet> Start the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client, as a VPN gateway. Select "vpn.hcu-hamburg.deSelect " (behind "Connect to:Select ") > Then enter your user ID and password

Then you can start your research via the library catalog and you may use the e-media that are available only in the HCU- network.
