Student Union

If you are involved in or have been involved in student union bodies of the university or the student body, your right to tuition fee payment deferral can be extended by a maximum of two further semesters after the expiry of your right to payment deferral in accordance with article 6c of the Hamburg Higher Education Law (HmbHG). The HCU has enacted an appropriate statute for this option, which is offered in article 6b, section 6, no. 3 of the Hamburg Higher Education Law (HmbHG). This regulation applies with the coming into force of the Hamburg Higher Education Law (HmbHG) in its version of September 23, 2008. All students who are involved in or have been involved in the student union bodies of the university or the student body since the 2008/09 winter semester can thus apply for an extension to their right to tuition fee payment deferral. What is important in this connection:

• You no longer have a right to tuition fees payment deferral as per article 6c of the Hamburg Higher Education Law (HmbHG).
• The student union body in which you are or were active is constituted in accordance with the Hamburg Higher Education Law (HmbHG).
• Per active semester, you receive an extension to the right to tuition fee payment deferral of one semester, this extension can be claimed for a maximum of two semesters.
• You have relevant written proof from the student union body that it is constituted in accordance with the Hamburg Higher Education Law (HmbHG) and of the period when you were active in the student union body.
• You must make an informal written application for an extension to the right to tuition fee payment deferral and submit appropriate proof.

Please submit your application as well as the proof of your activity in a university student union body or the student body to your front office. You can also send this directly to the back office (AdHOCH).
