Interim Arrangement

For the 2008/09 winter semester, there is an interim arrangement for all students who were informed that they are exempted from the general tuition fees beyond the 2008 summer semester. They do not need to pay tuition fees in the 2008/09 winter semester.    

In previous semesters, the HafenCity University Hamburg sent notifications to students informing them that they have been exempted from paying general tuition fees for several semesters at a time.
The change in the current legislation has also changed the prerequisites for being exempted from paying tuition fees. If you have been previously exempted from the payment of tuition fees, you can not invoke protection of legitimate expectation due to the change to the law.

If, at some point in the past, you received an exemption from paying tuition fees for a longer period of time, you will receive a notification by 31.03.2009 in which this exemption is revoked.
In the future, you must re-apply each semester for exemption from the obligation to pay tuition fees. Exemptions are now only granted on a semester basis. Exemptions from the obligation to pay tuition fees can now only be made in accordance with the changed legislation.
