Master Programme Applicants

In accordance with the special regulations for awarding university places as part of the admissions procedure for the Master of Arts degree course in Architecture, admission to the course is subject to:

A successfully completed first degree in Architecture with a minimum overall grade of good (better or equal to 2.5 in the German grade system).

If the result of the above-mentioned degree is not available at the time of the application deadline, the average of the grades contained in transcripts amounting to at least 120 CP of the respective bachelor’s degree programme is taken as the basis instead of the overall average grade of the degree. In addition, further potentially non-graded academic achievements totalling at least another 30 CP must be demonstrated so that at least 150 CP are achieved. This average grade must be confirmed by an attestation of grades. In the absence of confirmation, the application for admission will be rejected for formal reasons. A declaration must be enclosed with the application stating that the bachelor's degree will be completed in the current semester. The result of the first degree must subsequently be submitted at the end of the first semester at the HCU at the latest. If the bachelor’s degree is not completed on time prior to commencement of the master’s course, the student will be removed from the student register or in the case of HCU-internal bachelor students downgraded to the corresponding bachelor’s course.

The admissions requirement includes proof of knowledge of German as the language of instruction as per article 5, sections 3 and 4 of the general admissions policy of HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU).

a) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) als Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) mit mindestens 71 Punkten, als Computer-Based Test (CBT) mit mindestens 197 Punkten oder als Paper-Based Test (PBT) mit mindestens 527 Punkten,
