Applying for a University Place in the First Semester of a Degree Course

If you would like to start a bachelor’s or a master's degree at the HCU Hamburg, you will find all the required information on the following pages. You must first determine whether or not you qualify as a student or foreign student.

As

• a German applicant with a German higher education entrance qualification,
• as well as a foreign applicant with a German higher education entrance qualification and
• as an applicant who attended a German school abroad, as well as
• as an applicant from Member States of the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) with a German or European higher education entrance qualification,

you qualify as a student. If you are a foreign applicant and have already successfully obtained a primary degree with professional qualifications in the EU or EEA (e.g. a bachelor’s degree), you qualify as a standard student in relation to the admission procedure where applying for a place on a master's degree course.

If you are applying for a bachelor's programme and you have

• a obtained your higher education entrance qualification (high school, etc) outside of Germany

or if you are applying for a masters programme and have

• obtained your bachelors degree or equivalent outside of Germany

you are considered a student without a German higher education entrance qualification.
